What was that…

Milo and the Door to Hell (Chapter 1) Milo

Number 6 Clive Street housed a family whom were unknown to most. A family who trapped themselves away from it all. A family who always left the door unlocked…

65 Lloyd Road housed a boy and his family. A boy called Milo. He lived with his mum, his younger brother Thomas, a cat called Tula (who they took in as a stray) and the ashes of Milo and Thomas’s Dad who had died in a plumbing accident while checking a boiler. The house they lived in was small and uncomfy but managable considering none of the family worked. Milo wanted to take over his dad’s old business when he grew up but after the accident his mum would be to scared to let him do so.

Watchmen Review

Watchmen is an incredibly difficult film to rate since I have never read to the comics or know anything about it. Unfortunatly as someone who knew nothing about it the film it stands as a turn off for me to follow the series at all. Watchmen’s plot is to be frank shambles it says on the DVD box that heroes are being murdered. Note plurel. One hero get murdered 1,Uno,Eins,One not many. Fail straight of the bat. Till pretty much 1:47:00 ish most of film is talking while the talkings good you do want more action in there instead. However comic fans may get more enjoyment than non fans. The acting however even the fans will admit is awful some of the worst I’ve ever seen. Even With two sex scenes (and one rape) the actors droan through. The scribt however really irritated me. I know the films set in America but why do they use fucked up Hannah Montana style of talking its like action scene and am I watching the Disney channel here. However I would say very very well done to costume and music department since the music is some of the all time greats including Jimi Hendrix and The Jam the costumes also look nice rivaling Marvel and fellow DC’s.

Watchmen
Script:1/5 terrible plot with too much disney slang
Acting:1/5 how bored are they hardly no effort is put in expect for the masked guy (forget name)
Sound and Costumes:4/5 great outfits and a killer soundtrack top it off well shame the rest of the film cant be as good
Personal Enjoyment:2/5 was no where near as good as I would expected. Action was ok when delivered talky bits are real shitness

Overall: 2/5 a what could of been great film ruined by terrible script and crummy special effects

Room Full of Mirrors (Jimi Hendrix Biography

Welcome to The Reviewers first book review. We start with Jimi Hendrix’s biography Room Full Of Mirrors, written by Charles R Cross ,published in 2005. Jimi Hendrix is an influencial figure and is my hero even considering all of the problems in his life and the bad things he did its amazing how he survived as long as he did. With 4 of his siblings having disabilitys, (with 3 being sent to foster home as soon as they were born)to locking himself in a wardrobe when his parents, Al and Lucille, argued and his fathers constant neglect for him that seperated him and his brother. So far Hendrix’s life is going horribilly wrong. Until when he was fourteen in 1954 he found a guitar of some sort with one string and brought it of the family of whom it was and his life changed from there. I wont spoil anymore of his life for you but there is still plenty of thing you will not know about Hendrix. Focusing on the author now Charles R Cross has from my knowledge only done two book that have had great success Hendrix’s Bio and Kurt Cobains Bio ,Heavier than Heaven (I must read that) on this book though all over the cover and blurb is filled with positive comments about his work. To make this book even more appealing is that picked my copy up for £4.00 which is a bargain really.
Overall its a awesome read and show Hendrix off as such a different person than you normally think about (drugs guitars) while it shows these off to its reflected on his life why he did them all and for good reason too.
Score:10/10 book club award
If you like this try: Heavier Than Heaven
Or in winter a new book about another posible lead to Hendrix’s death.

Marvel VS Capcom 2

Marvel Vs Capcom has always been appreciated as one of the best fighters in history for good reason too. Players select a team of three characters then pit then against your opponents. But to be able to have three on three battle you need a good character list. That’s in there. On Marvels side you have the Xmen (including Cyclops, Gambit, Storm, Colossus and two versions of Wolverine), The Avengers (including Captain America, Hulk, Spider Man and Iron Man) you also have some relatively unheard of characters such as Omega Red and Shuma-Gorath. While Capcom (although it hasn’t as many famed characters as Marvel still pulls a very strong roster) has Street Fighter (including Ryu, Chun Li, Cammy and Zangief), Darkstalkers (B.B Hood, Felicia,Morrigan and Anakaris) plus Jill Valentine ,from Resident Evil, Mega Man and Roll from Mega Man (duh) and everyones favorite Cactus Amingo. Another major selling point of this game is that it finally has online play meaning finally you can take on friends and the world right from your living room (cheesy I know) but the fact its quick and easy to find a match and the matches I’ve played are lag free so another advantage to add to the list then. Price 1200 isn’t bad for the size of the game you are getting. Unfortunately one control movement is wrong which makes it harder to pull shoryukens off

Score 9/10 It’s a really good game far easier to pick up than Street Fighter but one control issues spoils it slightly.

Michael Mcintyre’s Comedy Roadshow

I was on holiday when I wrote this so it may be slightly outdated. Comedy Roadshow finnished last week (at time of writing) and although it was up and down I though it was acually a very good saturday night TV. Michael is on top form as always but his presenting skills need a bit of work but for his first go its very good and he desevers credit for it. On seeing the trailer I thought it would only be Michael doing the show but no he has 4 guests on each show. The problem is that most of them are shit, not funny and generally dull. So I usually skip these. However some of the guests were funny and I would be glad to see them get a dvd release particulary a angry man ranting on about meat vans and a scot explain the true meaning of a missing person sign. Theres also the headline act. These are all great comedians and a welcome edition to the show so if you have never seen them perform this is a great oppertunity to see people like Shaun Locke , Patrick Kielty (cant spell) and Sharpi Sorgolli (sorry again)all of whom are good.
Overall its well worth going on this roadshow just expect a few humps and bumps along the way. 8/10

Public Enemys

There is a lot wrong with this film and a lot right as well. The film is about bank robber Johnny (Depp) as he atempts to rob banks and escape Pursley (Bale). The story is a true story and I understand that in most films there is a soppy love scene this when you’re watching has what seems to have around 1/2 of film being soppy crap. (I understand that being a teenage boy I dont like this type but if you do you will enjoy this film) The action scenes however are the highlights being some of the best Ive seen with loads of guns and explosions (awesome)
I feel so sorry for the soppy sections since I got so bored during them and they could be really good if more action was included Dark Knight had them and thats a 10/10 this could be aswell but its flaws lower it to 6/10 and also try not to laugh as Bale atempts a american accent.

Red Faction Gurella

Red Faction is a free roaming action shooter like Crackdown sounds good and it is except for a few minor points and two massive biggies. Good bits include total freedom across an entire planet and what a planet. Blow up everything rocks, power plants, houses, cars you name it it can be destroyed. The weaponary is also a strong point with there being around 25 guns with 10 being upgradable and each one different such as a electric gun and a gun that disolves sceanary. The multiplayer is also a very strong point with it running clean and in the games I’ve played are mainly lag free but the result if there is lag means you freeze and then get killed by the twat with the lag. Unfortunatly it is spoilt by the shooting mechanic since it doesn’t exactly feel right shooting an enemy in over the shoulder 3rd person which odd and that any building you blow up will never respawn which while realistic whats the point since its a freeroamer and eventually you may run out of stuff to destroy which leave you with a empty planet with no buildings.
Overall it’s a 7/10 while I hate to give it this score and the shooting while annoying can be settled in to but there something about it makes it not be good as it should be

Mini Rant #1 Activitys Week

Ok I know the site is know called The Reviewer but I will still post rants if I feel the need to and if any guests would like to write a guest rant or guest review now please feel free to comment me.

Now to the Mini Rant. Activitys week is next week at school and unfortunatly last year my parents wouldn’t let me bunk off the start summer early and I had to suffer watching “John Tucker Must Die” (god awful film 3/10) and bruce almighty(great film 8/10 But…) three times from the start to the same mother fucking point before he meets God. I must have seen it around 15  times during my whole school career up to that same point and I’ve only seen the ending fucking once when I watched it at home more or less 5 years ago. Last year also we did one whole day of PE and it was shit PE you could ethier go with the girls and play rounders in the morning or the boys and play mother fucking football all day. Now as I am a person with some intelligence I think that football is the worst fucking sport ever so I went with the girls and burned 600 kals through the entire day (in the afternoon I went on tredmills and rowing machine while listen to music) the day after though was the Icing on the cake though. Circus training and to make matters worse my best mate bunked off so I on my own with a strange annoying person who wouldn’t shut up about mother fucking cricket. Any way at circus training I went with this other lad who i have been good mates with since first school and two other friends and for our proformence we through juggler sticks at each other and tried to catch them(still for going first we won a peacock feather wow…) I mean what is the point of doing circus training when we could be carving our lives (I heard a teacher say that ) by finnishing our coursework and to be honest I would rather do my coursework than be amused by throwing a stick at someone and then he would throw one back.

So wish me luck and I will report back on what we do that week

Street Fighter IV

As I have changed the name of the blog I may as well do a opening post. I have been playing this recently but I am seriously shit at it but if you too are shit at it please add my Gamer tag Rocketman162 and I will happily go throught it with you. Any enough about me being shit at something else. Street Fighter IV is great for anyone who enjoyed the older games but unfortunatly it is very hard for new players such as myself to grasp (I’m just about getting the hang of it with Dahlism and Rose) but for older players I highly recomend that you get a game pad but the advantage of the controler is that you get easy access to the all punch/kicks buttons by hitting LT and LB. While on the pads its slightly harder to finnish oppenents off. On this note are the new Super/Ultra combos which are active by proform two motions of the stick with a single punch for super and all the buttons for Ultra. Also new is focus attacks which is done by pressing med punch and kick together these are useful since they allow a hit to be absorbed and counter with a powerful strike. The achievements are frankly shit as 30% are virtually unabtainable to anyone who isnt a pro. The multiplayer achievments thankfully can be boosted which is good for gamerscore hoggers. Overall it depends on whether or not you played it before if you played it before go and buy it now since its the best Street Fighter yet if you havent then go at it with an open mind and try it for a week with game station and if you dont like it take it back and you say you tryed it.
Score:
Graphics: 5/5 The muscle look suits the game well
Game Play: 4/5 Plays like street fighter should but slightly hard to learn if you are new
Online/Offline: 4/5 Online is really fun with most matches being epic. Offline though once you have unlocked all characters it hard to go from there.
Achievements: 2/5 Really hard to 1000 unless you are a seriously good player
Overall
Veterans 5/5 the ultimate Street Fighter
for non veterans 4/5 its low accessability lets it down.
